Prof. Dr. Michael Sheng is a full Professor and Head of Department of Computing at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. Before moving to Macquarie, Michael spent 10 years at School of Computer Science, The University of Adelaide. Michael holds a Ph.D. degree in computer science from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and did his Post-doc as a Research Scientist at CSIRO ICT Centre. From 1999 to 2001, Sheng also worked at UNSW as Visiting Research Fellow. Prior to that, he spent 6 years as a Senior Software Engineer in several industries. Prof. Sheng has more than 300 publications as edited books and proceedings, refereed book chapters, and refereed technical papers in journals and conferences including ACM Computing Surveys, ACM TOIT, ACM TOMM, ACM TKDD, VLDB Journal, Computer (Oxford), IEEE TPDS, TKDE, DAPD, IEEE TSC, WWWJ, IEEE Computer, IEEE Internet Computing, Communications of the ACM, VLDB, ICDE, ICDM, CIKM, EDBT, WWW, ICSE, ICSOC, ICWS, and CAiSE. Prof. Dr. Michael Sheng is the recipient of the ARC Future Fellowship (2014), Chris Wallace Award for Outstanding Research Contribution (2012), and Microsoft Research Fellowship (2003). He is a member of the IEEE and the ACM.
Associated Researcher
Dr. Sun Zhu's obtained her Ph.D. Degree from the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Currently, she is a Lecturer in Department of Computing, Macquarie University, Australia. She mainly focuses on applying data mining and machine learning techniques (e.g., deep learning, reinforcement learning) to design effective algorithms to enhance the performance of recommender systems in various domains, such as e-commerce, social networks, location-based social networks (LBSNs), multi-media, smart learning, education and so forth.
Research Fellow
Adnan Mahmood works under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Michael Sheng and Dr. Wei Emma Zhang. Adnan obtained a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronic Information Science and Technology from University of Jinan, Shandong, P.R.China, a Master of Science in Information and Communication Technology from Al-Madinah International University, Malaysia, and a Master of Engineering (by Research) in Network and Communications from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak. Adnan possesses a 10+ years of working experience in diverse academic and industrial settings of Republic of Ireland, South Korea, Malaysia, People's Republic of China, and Pakistan and has worked on numerous projects of national and international significance. He is a recipient of several renowned scholarships including, but not limited to, the Commonwealth's International Research Training Program, Korean Government Scholarship, Chinese Government Scholarship, Malaysian International Scholarship, etc. His research interests include Software-Defined Networks, Network Functions Virtualization, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Internet-of-Vehicles, and Next-Generation Heterogeneous Wireless Networks. Adnan also serves on the Program Committees and Editorial Boards of several reputed International Conferences and Journals respectively.
Postgraduate Research Students
Bingqian Wang is currently a postgraduate student at the School of Computer and Communication, Lanzhou University of Technology, China. She received the B.Eng. degree from Lanzhou University of Technology in 2018. Her research interests include big data technology, privacy preservation and system modelling. She is a student member of the China Computer Federation.
Xin Gao is currently a postgraduate student at the School of Computer and Communication, Lanzhou University of Technology, China. She received the B.Eng. degree from Harbin Normal University in 2013. Her research interests include privacy preservation data publishing, information security, and dynamic clustering. She is a student member of the China Computer Federation.
Yiming Cong is currently a postgraduate student at the School of Computer and Communication, Lanzhou University of Technology, China. He received the B.Eng. degree from Harbin University of Science and Technology in 2016. His research interests include deep learning and privacy preserving data publishing.
Eyeleko Anselme Herman is currently a postgraduate student at the School of Computer and Communication, Lanzhou University of Technology, China. He received the B.Eng. degree from Lanzhou University of Technology in 2016. His research interests include machine learning and privacy protection.
